The number of Norwegian Jews deported by the German occupation authorities to Poland and to Upper Silesia was reported here today to be about 700.
Three Swedish newspapers estimate that between 6,000 and 7,000 Norwegians are now held prisoner in Germany, including many anti-Nazi students. While the Jews are being used for hard labor in occupied Polish territory and in Silesian coal mines, many of the non-Jewish deportees are being forced to clear air-raid wreckage from the streets of Berlin, the newspapers stated.
