The American Jewish Congress announced today that 698,993 Jews in 543 cities and 36 states registered in support of the efforts of the American Jewish Congress “to mobilize American Jews in defense of the equal rights of Jews the world over.” Of this number 351,674 went to the polls in 212 cities, comprising 102 election districts on June 25 to 27 to vote for 400 delegates to a special session of the Congress to be held early this Fall. The figures released by the American Jewish Congress are based on official returns made by the election districts to its National Board of Elections.
