Italian Jews eliminated from their professions because they have not yet received their exemption certificates have filed individual applications with their professional syndicates for permission to continue practicing until their cases are decided. It is doubted that the permission will be granted.
Seventy-five Jewish lawyers have been dropped from the professional register in Rome, including Aldo Ascoli, president of the Rome Jewish Community. Thirteen were registered in the “added” albums as “exempted” Jews, on grounds of service to the State.
Four Rome Jews have been eliminated from the albums of “doctors in commerce” while four others received exemption. Jewish physicians numbering 131 have been struck off the roll.
