A total of 750 Jewish refugees from Hungary are scheduled to arrive in Australia by January 15, according to Sydney Einfeld, president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, in a report to the World Jewish-Congress here.
Mr. Einfeld, who departed for North Africa today to screen prospective emigrants to Australia told a meeting sponsored by the World Jewish Congress that more than 1,500 Hungarian Jewish refugees are registered to migrate to Australia. Admission of the 1,500 refugees poses a great problem for the tiny Australian Jewish community of 56,000 persons, he said.
