United States Ambassador Edward Lawson today called upon Israel’s Foreign Minister Mrs. Golda Myerson and discussed with her Israel’s application for a $75,000,000 loan from the Export-Import Bank.
The meeting was arranged at Ambassador Lawson’s request. The loan which Israel is now seeking in the United States is geared to Israel’s four-year agricultural plan, designed for intensive growth of industrial crops in order to save foreign currency through cutting down on imports.
(Discussion of Israel’s pending application for the $75,000,000 loan was held yesterday in Washington by Israel Ambassador Abba Eban with Assistant Secretary of State George V. Allen. Mr. Eban later said that the talks on this loan are at a fairly advanced stage.)
