800 immigrants now on Ellis Island, mostly Italians, are facing deportation as a result of the decision by the United States Supreme Court in the case of Gittel Gottlieb, the wife of Rabbi Solomon Gottlibe, who entered the United States in excess of the Palestinian quota as a Rabbi.
These 880 came in the hope that they might be admitted under the ruling by Judge Julian W. Mack in the Federal Court in that case in which the exemption above the quota permitted Rabbi Gottlieb was also granted to his wife and son.
