The OSE, Jewish health society, announced today that some 800 out of 8,000 students in Polish Jewish religious seminaries succeeded in escaping from Poland to Lithuania. Some groups of Polish chalutzim (prospective Palestine pioneers) also made their escape, the society said.
The students, after having been concentrated in Wilno, are now in the towns of Janova, Kidam and Wilkomir. The Lithuanian branch of the OSE has organized medical services for the refugees.
