80,000 Persons Attended Israel’s Festival of Music Performances

Eighty thousand persons attended the 38 performances of Israel’s Second Festival of Music and Drama which ended here last night with a final concert by the National Philharmonic. Ten thousand of the viewers were tourists.

Teddy Kollek, director general of the Prime Minister’s office and head of the Government Tourist Corporation, in disclosing the attendance, said plans were already well underway for the Third Festival next summer. He expressed hope that the New York City Center Ballet would participate. The most popular of the performances were those of Sir John Gielgud, Pianist Van Cliburn, Composer Igor Stravinsky, I Musici and the Amadeus quartets.
