The 80th birthday of Dr. Boris Tchlenoff, well-known Jewish welfare leader and chairman of the World Ose Union who is now in Switzerland directing medical relief for Jews in Nazi-occupied countries, was observed here today at a special gathering arranged by the American Committee of Ose in cooperation with the Union of Russian Jews.
Messages of congratulations were cabled to Dr. Tchlenoff by the Joint Distribution Committee, the Jewish Labor Committee, the Ort, and by many personal friends, including Prof. Albert Einstein who praised Dr. Tchlenoff for his “tireless efforts and devotion to Jewish medical welfare work in the darkest years for European Jewry.” Speakers at the gathering included Dr. Julius Brutzkus, Dr. Bernard Kahn, Dr. David Lvovitch, Dr. L. Wulman and others.
