Some 840,000 Israelis will go to the polls in the forthcoming general elections at the end of July, the Interior Ministry announced today. A total of 502,000 voted in the elections for Israel’s first Parliament in January, 1949.
So far, the Ministry said, over 773,000 voters have been enrolled in 1,435 polling places throughout the country. In Tel Aviv-Jaffa 215,329 persons registered, while in Jerusalem 73,716 registered and in Haifa 83,176 indicated their desire to vote.
