A 37-year-old Russian surrendered to police last month, admitting that he had thrown a grenade at a synagogue in a southern Russian town. The Russian RIA agency reported that the attack on the Derbent synagogue took place on Jan. 25, 2004, and resulted in no injuries, though it did shatter several windows.
