Petitions containing names of 4,000,000 persons as individuals and groups demanding that the Amateur Athletic Union vote against American participation in the Berlin Olympic games will be laid before the A.A.U. executive committee when it meets at the Hotel Commdore at 11 o’clock tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow, the first day of the three-day convention, will be devoted to committee reports. The Olympic issue will reach the floor Saturday, the first day of plenary sessions, according to Daniel Ferris, national secretary-treasurer of the A.A.U.
Among the organizations whose representatives will appear before the executive committee tomorrow are: The Jewish War Veterans of the United States, the Catholic War Veterans, the Anti-Nazi Federation, the Young Circle League, the Move-the-Olympics Committee and the American League against War and Fascism. The executive committee has made arrangements to receive the representatives.
The Committee on Fair Play in Sports reported today that it has brought to a close its fight against Olympics participation. No move will be made during the convention, a spokesman for the committee said, so that no charge can arise of undue influence being brought to bear on the delegates.
