A Belgian official refused to resign despite an uproar over his membership in a group of former Belgian members of Hitler’s SS. Johan Sauwens, interior minister for Belgium’s Dutch-speaking Flanders region, said he had quit the group this week, but did not offer to resign from the Flemish government.
