A “Biblical garden” containing some 500 species of trees, shrubs, plants and flowers whose names are mentioned in the Bible was inaugurated Thursday on Notre Dame Island here as part of the annual “Florilies” festival. A plaque containing the Biblical source was placed at the base of each tree, shrub and plant. In the presence of Montreal Mayor Jean Drapeau and a large crowd, Israel’s Consul General Yitzhak Meir officially opened the garden.
