A Canadian pro-democracy organization called on the Canadian government to freeze aid payments to the Palestinian Authority. The Canadian Coalition for Democracies said the step was necessary because Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas hasn’t acted on promises to disarm terrorists and stop Palestinian schools from inciting hatred against Jews. “If President Abbas were interested in peace, he could already have replaced Palestinian textbooks that dehumanize Jews and glorify suicide bombing, especially given the massive foreign aid donated for that purpose,” said Alastair Gordon, the group’s president. Noting that the terrorist organization Hamas has publicly celebrated Abbas’ decision not to disarm terrorists, Gordon urged Canada’s prime minister and foreign minister to “open their eyes and see what is really going on in the Middle East.”
