A cease-fire meeting between Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat was canceled after an Israeli woman was killed in a drive-by shooting. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has repeatedly stated that he will not allow Peres to take part in such a meeting until there is 48 hours of complete calm.
