A center opened in Brazil for descendants of Jews forced to covert to Catholicism during the Inquisition. The Jewish education center, geared specifically for Bnai Anousim, was launched to reach out to “lost Jews.” “The center will serve as a focal point of our outreach work to Bnai Anousim here in northern Brazil,” said its director, Rabbi Avraham Amitai. He said many descendants of converted Jews express an interest in returning to their roots. The Center is being operated, paid for and run by Shavei Israel, a group that tries to seeks to help “lost Jews” return to the fold.
