A Christian leader in Jerusalem was cleared of charges that he sold church land to Jews. Palestinian investigators found no evidence that Greek Orthodox Patriarch Irineos I sold the land, owned by the church and located inside Jerusalem’s Old City. Irineos was demoted to monk following the accusations.
