A collection of Jewish ritual objects smuggled out of Syria and then restored in Israel were displayed in Jerusalem on Tuesday at the residence of Israeli President Moshe Katsav. The objects, including nine biblical manuscripts and 40 Torah scrolls, will eventually be returned to the Syrian Jewish community in Israel. The manuscripts were restored in a library at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University.
