A congressional committee praised Israel’s ascension to a U.N. leadership role. The resolution, initiated by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and passed last Friday by the U.S. House of Representatives’ International Relations Committee, congratulates Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Dan Gillerman, on being elected to a year-long term as a vice president of the U.N. General Assembly. Gillerman is the first Israeli to hold the position since Abba Eban in 1952.
