A controversial Islamic scholar gave up his efforts to teach at a U.S. university. Tariq Ramadan decided Tuesday to give up his appointment at Notre Dame. Under terms of the Patriot Act, the State Department in August revoked a visa granted to Ramadan, who some consider an apologist for radical Islam.
