A European Jewish official criticized U.S. Jewish groups for harming French Jewry’s ability to combat anti-Semitism. French philanthropist Pierre Besnainou, treasurer of the European Jewish Congress, said that when the Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee and American Israel Public Affairs Committee have become involved in French affairs, “their manner has come across as presumptuous and somewhat patronizing, placing us in a delicate situation.”
