A federal appeals court upheld a lawsuit by a prison inmate who demanded kosher meals. On Dec. 29, the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Ira Madison’s suit against the state of Virginia, citing the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000. Madison claims to be a “Hebrew Israelite.”
