A former Argentine police chief denied knowledge of a $2.5 million payment allegedly given to the family of a police inspector one week before the 1994 bombing of a Buenos Aires Jewish center. The disclosure of the payment has jump-started the stalled investigation into the AMIA blast, which killed 86.
