A former New Jersey rabbi allegedly spent more than $100,000 of temple funds for personal use. Peter Light, 47, had been a rabbi at Marlboro Jewish Center in Marlboro, N.J., for roughly two years before resigning June 30, according to the Asbury Park Press. During that time, he allegedly used synagogue funds to relocate his mistress to the area, and buy her things such as a $5,000 ring. Light told synagogue board members he was using the money to help Hurricane Katrina refugees. A police investigation is ongoing.
