A former president of the American Jewish Historical Society and of the Jewish Museum in New York died March 18 at the age of 95. Dr. Abram Kanof of Raleigh, N.C., had a distinguished career as a pediatrician and supporter of the arts. In 1956, he and his late wife, Tobe Pascher, established a workshop in Jewish ceremonial arts at the Jewish Museum and later donated part of their private collection to the North Carolina Museum of Art, which became the basis for the permanent Judaica Art Gallery there.
