A French prosecutor requested a suspended jail sentence for comments made in 1998 by a doctor who served at Auschwitz. A court of appeals is expected to rule next month on the charges against Hans Munch, who was quoted as saying that sending Gypsies to gas chambers “was the only solution.” A lower court previously dismissed the case, saying Munch is senile.
