A genetic test for breast cancer mutations linked to Ashkenazi Jews misses the mutations about 12 percent of the time, according to a new study. The test searches for the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 mutations, which are carried by 2 percent of Ashkenazi Jews and have been linked to both breast and ovarian cancers, according to the Human Genome Project in Washington.
