A German citizen of Afghani background has admitted stabbing a rabbi in Frankfurt.

The 22-year-old man was arrested Sept. 13 and charged with attempted murder and causing life-threatening injury one week after the attack on Rabbi Zalman Gurevitch, according to the Frankfurt prosecutor’s office.

Though the man admitted attacking the rabbi, he denied planning to kill him.

Investigators reportedly tracked down the attacker through a detailed description of the Sept. 7 incident posted on the Internet.

Gurevitch, 42, was stabbed in the stomach on his way home from Sabbath services. The attacker reportedly shouted, “S— Jew, I will kill you.”
