?? Mr. Straus, during his six years in the New York Senate, supported fifty-seven bills favored by organized labor. He advocated and secured the enactment of laws—limiting working hours of women and children; enabling state authorities to seize and destroy tainted food; eradicating tuberculosis in dairy herds; prohibiting adulteration of ice cream; prohibiting discrimination by landlords against large families, etc., etc.
?? Mr. Straus, as senator, co-operated with Governor Smith in enacting New York’s social welfare program, supported by Franklin D. Roosevelt and Governor Lehman.
?? Mr. Straus is president of the Park Association.
