A group of Catholic scholars from France is visiting New York to learn about the American Jewish community. The group, which was invited by the World Jewish Congress, will spend a week in New York visiting Jewish communities and seminaries, and talking with sociologists and philosophers of Judaism. “We men of faith have an obligation to make” religion “into a source of understanding and of brotherhood,” Israel Singer, the president of the World Jewish Congress, said Monday night at a dinner in the Catholic group’s honor.
