A group of right-wing Jews said they would begin renovating a building in eastern Jerusalem they claimed they had legally purchased. Israeli security forces were called in when Palestinian demonstrators attempted to block entry to the building by members of Ateret Cohanim, a group dedicated to beefing up the Jewish presence in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City. The Jewish group began moving into the building to protest Wednesday’s slaying in the Old City of a yeshiva student, who police said was the victim of Palestinian militants.
