A Hebrew University professor of Biblical and ancient Jewish history recently gave a series of lectures in Japan on the subject. His lecture tour was sponsored by the younger brother of Emperor Hirohito. Prof. Abraham Malamat was invited to Japan by the Japan Foundation, an organization which strives to enhance world culture through cultural exchanges. Sponsored by Prince Mikasa, Hirohito’s younger brother and the honorary president of the Oriental Society of Japan, Malamat lectured before the Oriental Society, the Society for Old Testament Study in Japan and the Japan-Israel Friendship League.
