A highly surcharged atmosphere continues in Vilna, Cracow and Czenstochtwa today.
The Rector of the University of Vilna last night advised Jewish students to absent themselves from their class rooms for the next few days in view of the disturbed situation.
The Rector’s suggestion was made at a huge mass meeting in Vilna. At the same time he made known his intention of closing the University if the excesses are renewed.
Student demonstrations were held in Cracow yesterday, the demonstrators shouting abuses at the Jews. An official communique states that the demonstrants were dispersed.
In Czenstochtwa, students were forbidden to appear on the streets of the city after five o’clock in view of the prevailing tension.
