A Hungarian court permitted a neo-Nazi party to run in next week’s parliamentary elections. The court ruled against Jewish communal leaders, who sought to ban the Hungarian People’s Welfare Federation Party. The party is led by Albert Szabo, who has proclaimed his allegiance to the Hungarian fascists that ruled the country during World War II. Another party led by Szabo had been outlawed by Hungary, but Jewish leaders argued unsuccessfully that Szabo had merely renamed the old party.
