A Jewish and an Arab-American congressman helped found a Friends of Jordan caucus in Congress. U.S. Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Charles Boustany (R-La.) joined Reps. Brian Baird (D-Wash.) and Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.) in welcoming Jordanian King Abdullah and Queen Rania to the launch of their caucus last Thursday. “I appreciate their commitment to the close friendship between our nations,” Schiff said in a statement released by the Jordanian Embassy. “I look forward to finding ways to work together with Jordan to advance our shared interests and build on our relationship.” Jordan is Israel’s closest ally in the region.
