A Jewish group called on the U.N. high commissioner for human rights to denounce members of Russia’s Communist Party who recently made anti-Semitic statements. The move by U.N. Watch, an affiliate of the World Jewish Congress, came after Russian Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov declared in a manifesto that the “spread of Zionism” in Russia is “one of the reasons for the current catastrophic condition of the country.” At the same time, Zyuganov, the leader of Russia’s largest party, said he condemns anti-Semitism.
