A joint Filipino-American effort that saved 1,200 Jews on the eve of World War II was remembered. Sunday’s event in Cincinnati commemorated the efforts of the Frieder brothers, Cincinnati businessmen who owned a cigar factory in the Philippines, and the country’s president at the time, Manuel Quezon.
