A Knesset majority Wednesday rejected an attempt by Finance Minister Yoram Aridor to submit his 475 billion Shekel budget to the Finance Committee before it passes the required first reading in the Knesset plenum. The budget was approved by the Cabinet last Sunday and is supposed to go into effect on April 1, the start of the new fiscal year. The opposition achieved only a technical victory with little bearing on the fate of the budget which is expected to win Knesset approval.
