A leading Jewish fund-raiser is the new executive director of the Israel Policy Forum. Nicholas Bunzl of New York has served in fund-raising capacities for the American Jewish Historical Society and the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan. “Despite the enormous challenges, such as the violence along the Israel-Gaza border that has intensified these past few days, I am hopeful,” Bunzl said in an IPF statement announcing his appointment last week. “I believe passionately in this mission and that IPF’s position — centrist, pragmatic and reasoned — is the correct one.” The group presses for greater U.S. engagement in the peace process. The effort in recent years to combine the IPF, Americans for Peace Now and Brit Tzedek v’Shalom into a single dovish pro-Israel lobby is dormant, sources say. Bunzl succeeds David Elcott, who left last year.
