A leading pro-Israel lobby group welcomed the election of Josep Borrell as president of the European Parliament. The Medbridge Strategy Center, which advocates for pro-Israel positions within the European Union, said Tuesday that Borrell long has had contact with the group and was an active participant in a recent trip to Israel that the group organized.
