A lesbian couple in Israel appealed to the country’s High Court of Justice against a ruling by rabbinical courts barring the children of one of the women from meeting her partner. The petition, filed by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, argues that the rabbinical courts have overstepped their authority and violated the women’s basic rights in the ruling.
