A meeting called by the Dutch Zionist Federation here to hear an up-to-the-minute report on the Palestine situation was attended by 1,500 people, including many non-Jews, it was learned here.
The meeting sent a telegram to the British Ambassador at The Hague asking that the 4,400 Exodus Jews not be returned to Germany and appealing to the British Government to “open the gates of the National Home to all Jews wishing to enter.” A similar telegram was sent to the UNSCOP. Later, a delegation of the Dutch Jewish Congregations met with the Ambassador to request that he intervene in behalf of the Exodus Jews and urged that they be permitted to go to Palestine.
