A meeting of representatives of various Jewish economic and public institutions has been held here to deal with the proposed income tax, the general view taken being that such a levy would cause considerable harm to the development of the country and that it was to be opposed unremittingly.

At the urgent nsistence of Jewish and Arab merchants, a meeting of the Jerusalem Chamber of Commerce, inter-sectarian body, has been held, at which tradesmen of all communities expressed strong objection to the revival of the old proposal for introduction of a tax on incomes. A resolution was drafted embodying a firm repudiation of the measure.
