A member of Islamic Jihad charged with involvement in a 1998 Jerusalem car bombing was recaptured after escaping from custody earlier this month, Palestinian police said. Ahmed Mihdawi was caught last Friday in the West Bank town of Tulkarm, they added. Mihdawi and two other Islamic Jihad members fled last month after they were released on furlough. Israel has repeatedly charged that the Palestinian Authority is too lax in dealing with Islamic militants.
