A memorial plaque dedicated to Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who saved tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews during the Second World War, was erected at the Austrian Embassy in Budapest. According to historians, the building in the diplomatic quarter of the city was Wallenberg’s last haven before he was arrested in January 1945 by Soviet troops in the Hungarian capital.
