A mission marking the 90th anniversary of the UJA-Federation of New York arrived in Israel. The organization’s trip Sunday was scheduled to coincide with Memorial Day and Independence Day in Israel.
After touring the country and visiting federation projects there, the 350 participants are scheduled to attend an event at the Knesset. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones will speak at the event.
The federation has been active in Israel since its founding in 1948. In the past 10 years it has contributed some $700 million to projects in the country.
