A New York politician called for the removal of a travel article on an AOL Web site that calls Israel “smelly.” The article, found on an AOL site that features articles by the Lonely Planet travel guide, warns travelers seeking spirituality in Israel that they may be disappointed by a “smelly” and “noisy” country that is “as capable of squeezing a tacky tourist buck out of the sacred as any US bible-belt town.”
