A Paris mayor banned a Swiss Muslim intellectual accused of anti-Semitism from speaking in his district. Tariq Ramadan, who recently said French Jewish intellectuals place their religious and ethnic identity before their commitment to universal values, was scheduled to speak in Paris last Friday. However, the mayor of Paris’ 12th district ordered the event cancelled because of a risk to public order.
