A plaque was unveiled in budapest to commemorate the man who rescued more than 1,600 Hungarian Jews from the Nazis. Among those commemorating Israel Kasztner were Israel’s ambassador to Hungary, Joel Alon, and leaders of the Hungarian Jewish community. Kasztner’s daughter said she plans to campaign in Israel to have her father’s memory honored there as well.
